A little sunshine on a rainy November day

The rain couldn’t dampen the mood at 544 Bridgeport on Saturday, November 15. Tenants gathered for an afternoon tea to celebrate the gardens they’ve cared for all year, including the Bridgeport Butterfly Garden — recently highlighted in the City of Kitchener’s LoveMyHood blog.

Guests enjoyed a slideshow of photos showing how the gardens have grown and changed through the seasons. It was also the perfect moment to reveal the winners of this year’s photo contest. Residents captured their favourite garden moments, and a panel of judges selected the winning images for a 2026 calendar. The top three will appear on the front and back covers.

During the party, guests voted on which photo should represent each month, adding a fun, interactive touch to the celebration. With mugs of Earl Grey, peppermint and other teas — plus a table of homemade squares — the afternoon felt relaxed, bright and full of pride for a space that brings the building together.
