Thank you to everyone who joined us on January 27 at 544 Bridgeport for Beyond Housing’s Annual General Meeting.
This year’s AGM was a celebration as we marked our 25th anniversary and reflected on the impact we’ve made together. Guests heard updates on our work over the past year, including progress on new housing projects, growing community partnerships, and the continued role of donor support in making deeply affordable housing possible.
A key highlight was an update on the New Beginnings capital campaign. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the campaign has surpassed its $2 million goal, reaching more than $2.6 million in donations and pledges. This strong support means all 20 townhomes on Frederick Street will be deeply affordable for the people who will call them home.
A fireside chat featuring Martin Buhr, Margaret Nally, and Rick Cober-Bauman brought the afternoon to life. They shared stories from the early days of MennoHomes and reflected on how a small group of church and community leaders came together to respond to a housing crisis—laying the foundation for the work we continue today.
As we look ahead, the need for safe, affordable housing in Waterloo Region continues to grow. We’re grateful to be building on 25 years of community support as we take the next steps forward. Thank you for being part of this work.
